In a recent blog post from the company, Microsoft announced a first in 10 years, there will be a substantive increase in its pricing of Microsoft 365.

Microsoft believes the increased pricing is justified since the launch of Office 365 a decade ago, now under the name of Microsoft 365, which includes significant increased value and some 24 additional apps, including Teams, OneDrive, SharePoint, and To-Do. The VP of Microsoft highlights the innovations delivered in key areas—communications and collaboration, security and compliance, and AI and automation.

In his blog post, Jared Spataro specified that the increase would be around $2 to $6 per person, and that there will be no changes for the education or consumer products. The changes will affect professional and commercial clients, as well as have significant effects on small businesses.

Microsoft 365 Business Basic will see the most impact with a 20% price increase.

This announcement comes after a boomer pandemic year at Microsoft who registered record revenues in 2020. The new pricing comes into effect March 1st, 2022.
